Haiti - Environment : 108 earthquakes recorded in the country in April 2022

The Technical Seismology Unit of the Bureau of Mines and Energy, in its latest bulletin, reveals that between April 1st and April 30, 2022, 108 earthquakes of magnitude between 1.3 and 5.3 were recorded by national and regional seismological networks (Ayiti-seisms, UTS-BME, RD-OSPL-Loyola) for the entire national territory.
A 39.67% drop in the number of earthquakes compared to March 2022 or 179 earthquakes were recorded (71 fewer earthquakes)
Among the earthquakes recorded, three of them, of magnitude 4 to 5.3 on the Richter scale, whose epicenter was located in the department of Grande Anse, were felt by the population.
85 earthquakes (78.7%) had a magnitude less than or equal to 3.
75 earthquakes (69.44%) occurred at a depth less than or equal to 10 km.
77 (71.3%) occurred at sea: 1 along the North Hispaniola fault, 4 along the northern fault, 3 along the Enriquillo Plantain Garden fault and 69 along the North Grand'Anse / Nippes system, this which could have presented a risk of tsunami if the conditions had been met.
98 earthquakes (90.74%) were located in the 3 departments affected by the earthquake of August 14, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes-updated-10am.html (8 in the South, 15 in Nippes and 75 in Grand'Anse).
