Haiti - Insecurity : The 113 and 114 to report discretely the suspicious presence
Last week an important meeting brought together, Mario Andresol, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the head of the military components, the Force Commander, Gen. Luiz Ramos and the Commissioner of Police of the United Nations, Marc Tardif in order to review the security disposition on field in order to optimize the strategies put in place to curb the crime.

At the last briefing to the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minsutah) last Friday, René Kentsa, Spokesman of the United Nations police gave an update on the question.

"...In this time, we support the PNH as part of operations by enhancing the visibility, particularly at the level of the checkpoints, walking and motorized patrols.

Speaking of the strengthening, an additional staff of six platoons were deployed only for the metropolitan area. Concerning the checkpoints, they were increased to 10 for the city of Port-au-Prince.

This visibility was enhanced on criminogenic reputable sites to prevent crimes and effectively find the criminals. With this device, several operations were carried out recently in support to the PNH, particularly in Port-au-Prince in the area of the Champ de Mars, which led to the discovery of 6.5 kilograms of narcotics. A similar operation took place in Arcahaie (Levèque/Cabaret) where four people were arrested, two were in possession of automatic pistols.

The success of these operations depends not only of the police, but also of the important role that people must play to inform the police and increase its effectiveness. You know as much as me that criminals do not live in the clouds. They are among us, live with us throughout the day.

For this reason, the Commissioner of the United Nations police asked me to make a reminder in the direction of the population so that it continues to work, that it work more with the Police to optimize its performance. Just discretely report any suspicious presence around you, free of charge, by calling the Operations Centre of the United Nations police at 113 or the National Police at 114. this gesture citizen will improve the safety of all..."
