Haiti - Technology : Inauguration of the Phase I of the Electronic Atlas of Tabarre
In order to provide Tabarre with a planning tool allowing to know how space is currently managed and how it will in the future, Jean Frantz Théodat, the Mayor of Tabarre, inaugurated this week the first phase of the project "Electronic Atlas of Tabarre", a Quick Impact Projects (QIP) initiated at the request of the mayor of Tabarre, by the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah) and funded to the tune of USD$25,000.

The town of Tabarre, with approximately 118,477 inhabitants to which must be added 108,701 displaced of earthquake of January 12, 2010, is a strategic place where are localized the pumping stations that supply the municipalities of Petionville and Delmas... It also houses the administrative buildings that welcome every day thousands of people
from across Haiti, including the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, the Embassy of the United States or the Historical Park of Sugar Cane.

As its name implies, the Atlas provides, in one click, information on the 28 neighborhoods of the town and present a complete cartography of the location of residential and industrial areas or the IDP camps. The Mayor of Tabarre, believes that this Electronic Atlas will be a great source of information "Such a tool will help us to better manage our town because we will have the addresses digitized of every important place, such as the number of boutiques, shops and schools located in Tabarre. On this basis, we will be able to know what is there and what is missing and how to guide the potential investors to invest in the town" he added.

For its part, Clack Erick Louis, the Mayor Assessor of Petionville, did not hide his satisfaction. "This is a great tool that every municipality should have for the smooth running of the municipality and in order to achieve an effective job."
