Haiti - Economy : Back on the Magic Show of Las Vegas
Under the patronage of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), and the Commission of Implementation of the HOPE Act (CTMO-HOPE) and with the help of USAID, eight Haitian garment firms recently participated to the Magic Show, the largest American show of fashion and clothing held late August in Las Vegas.

Located in the Pavilion of the Americas hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of Trade Representative of the United States (USTR), the stand Made in Haiti has attracted considerable attention.

It is with the slogan "Haïti : From T-Shirts to Tuxedos" that our representatives have made promoted the full range of products manufactured in Haiti : T-shirts printed and simple, work uniforms, men's suits, jeans, sportswear, winter coats, etc... demonstrating that our country can be a reliable partner in supply.

Nearly 200 companies of different sizes have shown interest to buy in Haiti, encouraged by our proximity with the large U.S. market, our young and abundant workforce, as well as the tariff advantages unique to the region offered by the laws HOPE (2008) and HELP (2010). According to Alain Villard, CEO of Palm Apparel, this show was "the clear signal l that the major manufacturing and supply companies are now turning their attention toward our region."

Haiti was worthily represented by delegates of the largest operators in the sector, such as: Palm Apparel, Sewing International, CODEVI, DKDR, Island Apparel, Multitex, Phenix2 and Indigo Mountain. They were accompanied by representatives of the ADIH, of CTMO HOPE and of Haiti Apparel Center, the technical training center recently installed in SONAPI, intended to meet the needs of industry in term of skilled labor.
