Haiti - FLASH : Reopening of the border and resumption of the binational market
To reopen the border gate on the Haitian side, the Haitians would have made it a condition that Santiago Riverón, the mayor of Dajabón, publicly apologize for the conditions of deportations of their compatriots, to which Riverón would have replied that he preferred to die rather than apologizing, because the actions of the Dominican Government were in accordance with Human Rights and fell within the sovereignty of his country.

Finally, the group of Haitians for the maintenance of the closure of the border gate gave in to pressure from Haitian traders who had been blocked at the border for a week, with trucks loaded with goods and whose threats were increasing and reopened the border.

With the reopening of the gate on Sunday, November 27, Haitian and Dominican merchants celebrated this decision, trucks of goods began to cross again on both sides of the border, while merchants began to set up their shops and stalls to the binational market on Monday, November 28.
