Haiti - Politic : Martelly met the Haitian community of NY
Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, had a cordial meeting on Thursday evening with the Haitian community of New York where thousands of citizens, including representatives of associations and organizations, had gathered in the auditorium of York College to cheer and participate in discussions with the President Martelly.

The event, which was of vital importance for the President and the delegation, was an opportunity for the Head of State to speak in all sincerity to the Haitian Diaspora of New York to inform them of the progress of change efforts in Haiti and learn about their expectations. The atmosphere was friendly, and they have had time to explore together all the topics of interest of the Haitian people and of the Haitian community from abroad.



Members of the Association of Haitian Evangelical Leaders of the New York State had, also, made the trip to come and pray for the President and to renew the support of the Haitian Christians. Local officials, students, entire families, entrepreneurs and business associations that want to invest in Haiti have reinforced this jubilant assistance. Artists, including Wyclef Jean, who was in his town, New York, Coubano, Shoubou, Alan Cavé and many others, were among the guests who sang Haiti and hope for hours.

Advisers of the President of the Republic and its Responsible for liaison with the diaspora, Ms. Bernice Fidelia, the Consul General of Haiti in New York, the Honorable Felix Augustin, have marched before and after him on the podium to speak with the public and answer the various questions of these compatriots.

The President of York College, Dr. Marcia Keizer, is honored by the presence of the President of Haiti in its establishment and would like to see him again next year. The Head of State gave them an update of the activities of his administration, again presented his vision of a new Haiti that wants to divorce of its earlier image to become a land of opportunities open to foreign investment for job creation and economic recovery.



The President Martelly continues his crusade in NY for job creation and the economic recovery of the country and will deliver his speech on Friday before the General Assembly.
