Haiti - Education : Welcome of a new promotion of CFEF of 120 aspiring teachers
"When things are not going well in a country and it seems to have lost its sense of the promise of history, despite everything, young people choose the path of school in order to impart knowledge to the future. This means that, despite everything, the school has a meaning in the country. I think there is hope," declared Nesmy MANIGAT, the Minister of National Education during the welcoming ceremony of the 20th promotion of the Training Center for the Fundamental School (CFEF) of Port -au-Prince, made up of 120 young people including 35 girls aspiring to become teachers

Minister Manigat congratulated these 120 young people for having decided to enroll in this path aimed at the transmission of knowledge despite a difficult social context pushing more than one to discouragement and emigration.

The Minister took the opportunity to insist on the need to provide the Haitian education system with qualified teachers, capable of ensuring, first of all, at the preschool and fundamental levels the application of the curriculum of a multilingual education. based on mother tongue.

In his intervention, the Coordinator Dénès Métellus who spoke on behalf of Meniol Jeune, the Director General of the Ministry welcomed the willingness of these 120 young people to embrace the teaching career, emphasizing "They will be a great contribution to improving the quality of education" while recognizing that the Haitian school suffers from a shortage of qualified teachers; which negatively affects the academic performance of learners.

The welcoming ceremony of the new class of CFEF ended with a conference-debate jointly moderated by Khadim Sylla (Coordinator of UNESCO's Education Sector in Haiti) who dealt with "The quality of education at the heart policies for the transformation of education", Ariana Valcarce (Preschool Education Specialist at UNICEF, Haiti) on the theme "Preschool as an axis of transformation of the education system" and Mérona Laguerre [Director of the Management Office of the preschool education (BUGEP/MENFP) exchanged with the audience around "Potential impacts of the consolidation of preschool education on the quality of education in Haiti."
