Haiti - FLASH : American Airlines reduces its flights and explodes its prices Port-au-Prince / Miami 21/04/2023 10:00:35
Separately, earlier this month, American Airlines took another step and began using a 128-seat Airbus 319 instead of a 172-seat Boeing 737-800 for its flights to Haiti. In addition, there has been a very strong increase in the price of tickets from Port-au-Prince to Miami... Now, a one-way trip from Port-au-Prince to Miami costs US$1,091 with a week of planning, while a one-way ticket Miami / Port-au-Prince costs only $124... A difference of almost 9 times more, difficult to explain... Worse, a last-minute one-way ticket from the Haitian capital to Miami now costs 3,404 dollars at American Airlines Note that until May, one-way Port-au-Prince/Fort Lauderdale flights are offered by JetBlue, ($589) and Spirit Airlines ($1,043)... Users are protesting against these prices, which they describe as exorbitant. To cope with this explosion of prices, some users go through the Dominican Republic where a one-way ticket to Miami costs about 257 dollars for a seat in economy class and 493 dollars in business class. Reacting to the rates of American Airline, Luz Kurla Cassandra François, the Minister of Tourism declared that the Haitian government would hold talks with American Airlines and Spirit Airlines with a view to bringing down the high price of flights, and to add a one more day flight...
