Haiti - Politic : Press conference Martelly - Conille
Yesterday took place at the National Palace a joint press conference between the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly and the Prime Minister Garry Conille.

Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, for his part said that the country is going in the right direction, the new government will be representative, open and inclusive, and that him and Garry Conille form a winning duo :

"We know that change does not come without resistance but I can say today that I feel that we are going in the right direction, the change is on the road, the change is there, it is the will of the Haitian people that's why they have made chose of me, Michel Joseph Martelly as President.

The Prime Minister is establishing a new government representative, open and inclusive for the change that we speak. And this government will focus on the priorities of President Martelly, priorities that we all know, Education, Jobs, Rule of law and the the Environment. The reconstruction of Haiti weill really start, it is necessary that everyone join together, that everyone agrees.

I will put all my confidence in the Prime Minister Garry Conille, my Prime Minister, I believe in his ability to provide performance, working with all sectors of the country, I think that the country will have with us two who are standing here a winning duo, our concern is to see a better Haiti for the Haitian people."

For his part Conille Garry, the new Prime Minister of Haiti, thanked the President for his help, but also the parliamentarians :

"I thank the President of the Republic not only for the confidence he has placed in me but for the support he gave me, because there are many people who did not see what is happening behind the stage, but the truth is that over the last four weeks I found a President, but also a friend who called me regularly to see how things work, to ask me how he can help me unlock things, to assist us and support us. So I want to thank him both for his confidence, for this support, who really presage an open and honest collaboration. The President has created a space where I can have discussions very, very honest and sincere with him and I am very anxious to begin the collaboration on this basis.

I also want to thank the parliamentarians of the Chamber of Deputies and more recently of Senate, I want to tell them that I have listened them, over the past four weeks, I met almost everyone in small groups, some several times, I listened them and we will reflect the conversations we had with them in the various documents we have to prepare. We talked a lot on how to land the vision of President of the Republic.

Finally I would like simply say to all the people of Haiti that I know that for several years, you heared a lot of words, today is the time is to the action, we are ready to start working, we are ready alongside the President of the Republic, with the senators, with the deputies, with the elected to begin to bring results that will make changes in your life..."

Concerning the doubt emitted by the Senator Jean William Jeanty on the citizenship of Garry Conille, the principal interested has simply responded "...do not have Canadian citizenship, I am Haitian and I never renounced to my citizenship..."

Concerning the remarks of Senator Jean Hector Anacacis who announced the divorce of this marriage [Conille - Martelly], the Prime Minister responded "...my collaboration with the President of the Republic has so far been very positive, very productive, as I said earlier the President create a space where we can have frank, honest debate of ideas where the whole team can express their disagreement. I think it's something that is extremely positive and I believe on the contrary that it is this platform that is good to move forward."
