Haiti - Economy : Project «Chanje metye, chanje lavi», hope for thousands of vulnerable young people
Pierre Ricot Odney, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor officially launched the Government's project "Chanje metye, chanje lavi" last week.

The Government, via the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), is committed to combating juvenile delinquency and the depravity of young people.

According to the Coordinator of the Steering Committee of the project, Guy Aurel André, the MAST wants to help young people to fight against unemployment and also to enable them to fight poverty effectively within the framework of the multi-sector program for appeasement and social reintegration. vulnerable groups.

Thanks to this initiative, thousands of young people have the opportunity to have a job in optimal conditions. At the end of this training, young people will have acquired technical skills capable of guaranteeing their integration into the labor market. Through this program, the Government intends to make these beneficiaries the builders of their own future.

According to the Project Coordinator, these young people will benefit from technical training and manuals in the following disciplines : modern cosmetology, installation of photovoltaic energy, driver of heavy machinery, building electricity, tiling, plumbing, window and kitchen techniques. After the complete training, these young people will receive professional kits in order to get a good start in their new professional life.

For his part, the Minister promised to support the beneficiaries throughout the duration of the project, launched in the West department, adding that this program aims to provide short-term vocational training to young people in vulnerable situations in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods.

For Minister Odnet, "this multi-sectoral program is carried out in accordance with the national policy for social protection and promotion, adopted by the Haitian State in 2020. This national policy is articulated around four main axes: childhood; work; protection for old age and health for people in vulnerable situations and adaptive social protection to shocks."
