Haiti - Education : Inauguration of National School of Maingrette
Monday September 18, 2023, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education, inaugurated the brand new premises of the National School of Maingrette (Aquin, South), destroyed during the earthquake of August 14, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes-updated-10am.html , reconstructed thanks to the financial support of the Mexican Government, the Carlos Slim Foundation and the commitment of UNICEF which worked to mobilize and manage the funds released for this project and for 9 others distributed in the South, the South-East, Nippes and Grand-Anse.

"We will never stop increasing our efforts to open the doors of all schools wherever possible. These are the same efforts that will be made with the idea of facilitating that all children can return to school," declared Manigat adding "the Ministry will not fail in its responsibility; As long as there are children finding it difficult to return to classrooms, these efforts will not stop."

"These new constructions symbolize the resilience of Haiti, and demonstrate that it is possible to recover sustainably and build back better for every child," said Bruno Maes, UNICEF Representative in Haiti adding "The construction of the buildings of these 10 schools, in addition to the 38 others already delivered, demonstrate the commitment of this UN agency to continue working for the well-being of Haitian children."

After the traditional ribbon cutting, Minister Nesmy Manigat distributed "Liv Inik" in Haitian Creole, and school kits to 1st and 2nd fundamental year students.

Still within the framework of Mexican cooperation, the buildings of the Roseaux national school will be inaugurated this Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
