Haiti - Economy : The Minister of Foreign Affairs seeking opportunities in South Korea
Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, at the head of a delegation composed of Mr. Karl Jean-Louis, Mr. Lesly Benoit Jr and of Director and the Director-General of Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), Mr. Guy Lamothe, has participated this Thursday, October 20 in South Korea to the launch of the forum "Korea Lac", organized by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB). Several delegations from Latin America have participated in this event which represents a platform of opportunities in the perspective of research of new horizons for the countries of the South in terms of investment.

On this occasion, the Chancellor, which attracted more than two hundred (200) investors around the world, has taken the opportunity to convince potential Korean investors that Haiti is more than ever willing to welcome them. According to him, there is much to do in the areas such as infrastructure, housing construction, energy...

The holder of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs welcomed the Korean company SAE which established its operations in Haiti, to Caracol in the department of North-East, and plans to create more than twenty thousand jobs in the textile sector. In the sense he encouraged the company LG and other local firms to follow the example of the company SAE by investing in Haiti.

In his speech, the Minister Lamothe mentioned the commitment of the President of the Republic of Haiti, Michel Martelly, to attract and facilitate the investment in Haiti by establishing the Presidential Investment Advisory Concil (CCPI). Mr. Lamothe took the opportunity to also invite the participants of this important forum to attend the investment conference to be organized by the Haitian Government in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank during the month of November. In this regard, the Haitian Chancellor met with IDB President, Luis Alberto Moreno, around the preparation of this event.

Mr. Lamothe also took advantage of his stay, to meet his South Korean counterpart around the strengthening of relations between the two countries. As the 12th largest economy, Mr. Lamothe believes that South Korea can be a partner as part of the new administration's efforts to revitalize the Haitian economy.

The Minister Laurent Lamothe agrees to give new impetus to the Haitian Diplomacy, by directing it, among others, towards the increasing research of opportunities for the benefit of the Haitian people hat expects much of its new government.
