Haiti - Police : A new promotion of investigators was graduated 24/10/2011 13:51:31 "We are proud to say that we have in Haiti a group of investigators with reinforced competencies in terms of criminal proceedings. Haitian citizens can rely on the judicial police which intensifies gradually the efforts of specialization and professionalization of the officers," said Commissioner Bertrand, DCPJ representative at the ceremony of graduation. Initiated by the UNDP, these sessions of specialized training for the investigators of the judicial police aim to improve the capabilities of investigation and monitoring of criminal proceedings for all members of the DCPJ. "These courses are organized around four modules: investigative techniques such as search (search for clues and evidence of infringement, search techniques, opening of the door); writing techniques of the minutes (sexual assault, homicide, kidnapping, drug trafficking, money laundering, crime, technology, etc...) and finally the practical part that allows investigators to test the skills they have acquired in theoretical sessions ugh integration by simulation," explains Mario Leclerc, Technical Advisor of UNDP Police. "Indeed, one of the highlights of this training is the put at disposition of three new simulation rooms with live video recording, which ensures the implementation of the theoretical. This new step in the formation allows a double-loop learning where all the officers feed back on the crime scene and search. Participants in these courses are encouraged to be proactive, to engage fully in training and become architects of their own development." This is the second training course of this type launched by UNDP. The first round was supported by the same partners and with the support of the "Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)" was held in August and September 2011 with 125 officers of the Brigade to fight drug trafficking. The courses were mainly taught by an expert hired by UNDP, Jean-Daniel Ulysse, which in addition to master the international standards of criminal procedure, applies them to the socio-cultural reality of Haiti. The training was supplemented by three members of the UNPOL who provided technical and scientific expertise. These courses are part of the UNDP project for capacity building of the various components of the Haitian police in order to stop crime, strengthen security and improve the quality of life for Haitian citizens.
