Thursday January 18, 2024, several neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince including Solino, Delmas 24 and its surroundings experienced a day of high tension against a backdrop of urban guerrilla warfare between gangs and between the police. Several houses were set on fire in Carrefour Péan by armed individuals coming from Bel-Air. Several neighborhoods were blocked, barricades of burning tires were erected, notably in Nazon, Lalue, Canapé-Vert, Delmas and in different places in the north of the capital. These tensions are linked to territorial conflicts between gangs and anti-government mobilization responding to the call of former Senator-elect Guy Philippe.

The attacks by these armed individuals against Solino have resumed since January 14, 2024.

On the instructions of Frantz Elbé, Commander-in-Chief a.i. of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), police officers forming part of the specialized forces of the institution, are deployed in Solino, a neighborhood located in the commune of Delmas, and carry out operations, in the objective of tracking down and arresting armed individuals who sow terror and panic among the population.



In Miragoâne (Dept. of Nippes), members of the Departmental Order Maintenance Unit (UDMO) dispersed demonstrators using tear gas grenades who were responding to the call for civil disobedience launched by the former senator-elect Guy Philippe. And headed towards the offices of Customs, the APN and the OAVCT with the aim of forcing the closure and handing over the keys to these state institutions.

In Ouanaminthe, demonstrators once again wreaked havoc, particularly near the Industrial Development Company (CODEVI) which employs 18,000 Haitian workers and the national road #6 by throwing stones and bottles against a backdrop of heavy gunfire from automatic weapons. , causing panic among the population. Schools, private and public establishments and businesses have kept their doors closed...
