Haiti - Justice : Judge Al Duniel Dimanche, called to order by the CSPJ
In a letter from the Superior Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ) addressed Thursday, February 22, to the investigating judge Al Duniel Dimanche, the Council asks him to refrain from any act of instruction reminding him that his mandate had ended January 29, 2024.

"The Superior Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ) addresses its courtesy to you and, hereby, would like to remind you that your mandate as Investigating Judge, the official report of your swearing in dated January 29, 2021, has ended. Consequently, you are asked, in accordance with the legislation in force, to refrain from any act of investigation pending the renewal of your mandate at a later date."

This request comes after Judge Dimanche ordered this week [illegally] the affixing of seals to the temporary premises of Entre Nationale des Éqipements (CNE) in Canapé-Vert.

Following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) transmitted to the courts, concerning the abusive use for private purposes of heavy machinery belonging to the State, responsible for investigating the case, had in an order on January 16, 2024, issued for the purposes of executing national and international arrest warrants (INTERPOL) against 37 high-level political figures including former Presidents, former Prime Ministers and Ministers among others https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41465-haiti-flash-international-arrest-warrants-interpol-against-37-senior-haitian-political-figures.html

At the end of January, he rejected out of hand the information indicating that his mandate had expired on January 29, he declared "[...] if that were the case, I would never accept that he be renewed by a de facto Government... https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41564-haiti-news-zapping.html " (However he had accepted the responsibility of his function and this file without contesting this "de facto Government")...

In the meantime, Me Bernard Sainvil, the Dean of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Port-au-Prince, asked the chief registrar of Me Mozart Tassy, to take all necessary measures so that the files entrusted to the judges whose the mandate has expired are recovered for redistribution.
