248 Cuban citizens evacuated without incident
Sunday April 21, 2024, the Cuban Government announced that the evacuation operation of 248 Cuban citizens stuck in Haiti for 2 months https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-41845-icihaiti-insecurity-250-cubans-still-stranded-in-haiti.html which started on Friday https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-42157-icihaiti-flash-cuba-launches-an-evacuation-operation-for-its-citizens-stranded-in-haiti.html ended this Sunday, April 21 without incident.

Dajabón : 218 illegal Haitians arrested in 48 hours
As part of migration control operations over the last 48 hours, the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront) arrested 218 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation. During a first operation, 151 undocumented Haitians were arrested, including 129 men, 18 women and 4 minors. In addition, after receiving credible information, in Callejón del Toro, in the community of La Vigía, 67 other Haitian nationals (51 men, 12 women and 4 minors) were arrested. The Haitians were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding legal purposes.

210 temporary youth jobs
Thanks to the "Temporary Safety Net and Skills for Youth" program financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), executed by the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) and operated by Viva Rio Haiti. The workers benefiting from this program are building a 40 linear meter retaining wall at the Fragneau cemetery (Delmas 75). This construction creates 210 temporary jobs and contains 60 days of effective work. More than 200 households are directly affected by this project.

Drop in Dominican exports to Haiti
According to the Dominican General Directorate of Customs, trade between the Dominican Republic and Haiti fell by -29% during the first quarter of 2024. Over the whole of 2023, Dominican exports to Haiti reached 857 million US$ a reduction of 17.5% compared to 2022. This drop intensified from September 2023 following the decision of the Dominican government to close its borders..

Crisis : no perfect solution
The Haitian Youth Observatory (OJH) believes that there is no perfect solution to this multidimensional crisis, much less unanimous proposals. To this end, the OJH invites each actor to free themselves from political polarization in order to prove that enlightened and shared governance can be, at least, the prerogative of a minority of political leaders.

As part of the National Day of the Haitian Diaspora, the Embassy of Haiti in Spain invites the Haitian diaspora in Spain and across Europe, to reaffirm and promote their cultural identity "In Spain or elsewhere, every Haitian must showing himself to be a worthy representative of the Motherland while always keeping in mind this militant adage : once a Haitian, always a Haitian."
