PAP : Towards the resumption of Airport activities
The National Airport Authority (AAN) is working together with airlines to quickly resume operations at Toussaint Louverture international airport and the Guy Malary terminal. Security has been reinforced around and inside the airport and at the terminal, the AAN announced.

Schools are not shelters
School directors in Port-au-Prince are urging authorities to take steps to free schools transformed into temporary shelters by displaced people to allow students to resume their school activities.

Justice : The SG of the Senate released
Thursday May 9, 2024, Marie Nelly Verpile Boyer, Secretary General of the Senate, who was the subject of an investigation surrounding the management of property in the Senate and the granting of debit cards, regained her freedom. She was arrested and placed in detention in Delmas 33, following her hearing by judge Merlan Bélabre, as part of the case of corruption and misappropriation of Senate property.

Drop in customs revenue
The significant drop in traffic in the port facilities of Port-au-Prince, the attacks by armed individuals, the looting of containers at the Caribbean Port Services and the cessation of operations for nearly 2 weeks at the Varreux oil terminal, have had negative consequences on the collection of taxes by customs. In April only 71.1% of planned revenues were collected. Of the forecasts for the 3rd quarter (April-June) only 24.3% have been collected to date.

Journalist Roberson Alphonse honored
The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) of the USA honors journalist Roberson Alphonse. He will receive the Percy Qoboza Prize for Foreign Journalist of the Year 2024. Alphonse works for Le Nouvelliste and Magik9 and is a fellow of the Knight-Wallace program at the University of Michigan.
