Haiti - Reconstruction : The Prime Minister announces the reconstruction of public buildings 22/11/2011 09:46:14
"...by participating in this ceremony, I feel a real feeling of satisfaction to see the parliamentary institution with a physical infrastructure, which provides each of its members, a conducive framework for reflection and debate, and a minimum of comfort essential to obtain productive work. It remains obvious that the projects included in our program of government can not produce the results expected by the people, if they do not receive the attention of parliamentarians. To the occupants, I am sure that in these new spaces, temporarily equipped for the second time, after the earthquake, the parliamentarians will find all the necessary energy to the impulse and the dynamism of parliamentary work, to restore confidence to the Haitian people in our national institutions. I still want to emphasize on the provisional nature of these new buildings and I would like to reassure the honorable senators and deputies, they are not intended to defy time. This is an issue important for the President of the Republic and myself, that of the reconstruction of public buildings, which is among the government priorities in the implementation of projects of the national reconstruction. I reiterate here the commitment of the Government Martelly-Conille in this project refounder, that it bears the whole of its technical and financial partners. Also, at the time where are inaugurated these new temporary buildings, I must say that I thought appropriate, after consultation with the President of the Republic, to validate, after arbitration of resources already available, priority projects already identified as part of the projects of reconstruction of public buildings. The process is therefore fully engaged and the following priority project were identified : first, the reconstruction of the Legislative Building, the Courthouse, the Palace of the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes, the reconstruction of the Palace of ministries and the Directorate General of taxes. This priority choice, clearly demonstrates the will of the government, to provide urgently the institutions of the necessary resources, so that they can conduct their activities..." HL/ HaitiLibre
