Haiti - Economy : «Haiti is open for business, alive and strong»
Tuesday, during the first day of the second edition of the Forum on Investment in Haiti "Invest in Haiti," which brings together nearly 1,000 participants and investors from 29 countries, Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter Development Bank (IDB) in his address, said that Haiti was open for business and encouraged investment in the sectors of apparel, tourism, agribusiness and of infrastructures.

"...let me tell you that Haiti is open for business, alive and strong. Today we welcome the citizens of more than 29 countries to help Haiti, to achieve this goal for change, the international community is fully committed to helping the country for its economic, social and environmental problems. Our priority is in line with the Haitian government, to formulate the future of Haiti, we will focus on institution building, support for economic growth in diverse areas of the country. The IDB is working in areas where we think we can make a difference: the private sector development, transportation, energy, water and sanitation, agriculture and education and cincerning the private sector development, in addition to the industrial park of Caracol, IDB helps Haiti to expand its access to credit and business development and the service to small and medium enterprises. We also help the government as part of reforms to improve the investment climate, for example, reducing the time of licensing and concessions, and also facilitate the entry into the market of small and medium enterprises . The ultimate goal of business development of the private sector is to create jobs to achieve sustained growth and poverty reduction also [...]"
