Haiti - Politic : Visit of 4 Haitian senators in the Dominican Republic
The Commission of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Dominicano-Haitian of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, received a courtesy visit of four Haitian senators Joseph Joël John (West), Wencesclass Lambert (South East), Jean Baptiste Bien Aimé (North East) and Lucas François Sainvil (North West), they were received by the deputies Karen Ricardo, Elpidio Báez, Lucía Alba, Cristian Paredes, Kenia Mejía, Altagracia González, Carlos Guzmán, Severina Gil, José Díaz, Mariano Montero and Ramón Fernández.

Karen Ricardo, the President of the Commission has welcomed the Haitian parliamentarians to whom he reiterated the interest of the Commission to work in coordination to continue to strengthen ties between the two peoples.

Elpidio Báez, President of the Commission Interior and Police, also thanked on behalf of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the visit of the Commission of Haitian legislators.

At the meeting held between parliamentarians of both countries, the Senator Joseph Joël John, raised the necessity of the creation of a joint commission that will build a common agenda that will benefit the citizens of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, especially for those living in border areas.

The senators John Joël Joseph and Jean Baptiste Bien Aimé, reiterated the thanks to the Government and to the Dominican people for the great support given after January 12, 2010, which destroyed the Haitian capital.

Both parties agreed that relations cultivated by the current president of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández Reyna, with the former President of Haiti, René Garcia Préval have strengthened the relations between the two peoples.

They informed the members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Dominicano-Haitian that "despite that we legislate in a temporary building, we have the resources to build a new building for the parliament."

The group of Haitian senators have formally extended an invitation to the President of the Chamber of Deputies Abel Martínez Durán, to the deputies, to begin work on the development of a common legislative agenda, voting laws, rules that will benefit both peoples.

The deputies of Parliamentary Group of Friendship Dominicano-Haitian offered a cultural visit to the Haitian parliamentarians, showing their different works owned by the Chamber of Deputies, the visit took place accompanied by the Head of cultural Department, Abil Peralta. Then a lunch was offered to the Haitian guests, here they received gifts from the hands of local deputies.
