Haiti - Social : Sophia Martelly celebrates Christmas with the third age
The First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, Sophia Martelly celebrated this Sunday, December 18, 2011 with more than a thousand people in the third age, came from different regions of the country as part of the "Christmas of solidarity." It is in an atmosphere of joy, excitement and conviviality that took place that day under the sign of respect and of consideration towards the elderly, in the grounds of Collège St-Pierre, at the Champ de Mars.

Ms. Sophia Martelly, while welcoming the courage and the contribution to the social balance of this category of citizens, shared with the elderly a moment of happiness. The dance, song, music and tears of joy were at the rendezvous. Participants received gifts and expressed their gratitude to the First Lady who, according to them symbolizes hope, comfort and enchantment.

Organized in partnership with the Center for Home and Recovery of Senior Citizens (CARPA), the feast was an opportunity for guests to enjoy themselves and the First Lady to be once again at their listening. Ms. Martelly further believes that the elderly, like all other social categories, need attention and safety.

The First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly which has always affirmed her reat concern for the senior citizens, took advantage of this opportunity for renew its good intentions towards them. She continues to remind them - as she did during the International Day of Older Persons - that they are the symbol of dynamism and of the love that characterized the Haitian society of the past. Ms. Martelly invite all segments of the population to be in solidarity with these people, by offering them the moral support and guidance necessary in their activities.



The First Lady of the Republic continues to believe that it is very important now to reconnect with the elderly and to give them a more noble treatment. This is why, she promises to implement strategies to improve their living conditions.
