Haiti - Economy : Government and private sector at the first Forum on the reconstruction
Last Friday, Prime Minister, Dr.Garry Conille, spoke at the opening of the first Forum on the reconstruction of Haiti, which brought together to the Karibe Convention Center representatives of the international community and members of the Haitian private sector. Several personalities attended the launch of the Forum, including the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Jude Hervé Day, the Representative of the international community in Haiti, Nigel Fischer and several officials of the Chamber of Commerce and industry and Ambassadors accredited in Haiti.

The Prime Minister announced that his government is giving priority the reconstruction of the country and that a set of strategies were already implemented, aiming among other : the land use, the construction of social housing and public buildings in a safe and healthy environment ; reiterating that the year 2012 will be that of the great opportunities while stressing that for capture them, it is necessary that the private and public sectors work together with the support of the international community.

The government Conille intends to accelerate the implementation of a new growth strategy with the objective a GDP growth in real terms of 7.8% "'Investments in public infrastructure, particularly in the framework of the reconstruction, the private investment and the exports fostered by the opportunities offered by the law HELP, will indeed contribute to the achievement of this objective," think the Prime Minister.

For Dr. Garry Conille, "the reconstruction will be an opportunity for economic recovery are part of a sustainable development strategy and concerted." But to achieve these objectives, he believes that the collaboration and and the synergisation of all sectors around a shared vision is indispensable "the objective is to enable the private sector to see the directions that the government is takingand to know how to position themselves," stressing that "the dialogue between the private and public sector had started well and could lead to a partnership."

In total, nearly a hundred projects must be implemented during 2012.
