Haiti - Reconstruction : Meeting between the Prime Minister and UNOPS 22/01/2012 10:04:41 This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss of ongoing projects and programs as well as strategic axes for future cooperation within the framework of the reconstruction of Haiti. The Director of UNOPS thanked the Prime Minister Garry Conille of the onfidence in UNOPS, especially for the new demand of universities construction and the support to health sector. She also gave an update on the support of UNOPS to the reconstruction, including the project 16/6, the projects of management of debris and of demolition of buildings classified red and explained the new modalities of UNOPS to support the management capacity and of implementation of the Government of Haiti. The Prime Minister Garry Conille mentioned the "necessity of expedited procedures for rapid and visible results," particularly with regard to the Faculty and the University at Damien. This meeting allowed the representative of UNOPS to give an update to the Prime Minister of its discussions with the Minister of Health Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume and with the Director of the Unit of construction, Mr Harry Adam. Learn more about UNOPS in Haiti : UNOPS is working in Haiti since 2005 and currently employs over 450 people at least 90% are recruited locally. Since January 2010, the organization has grown tremendouslybecause of number of projects implemented and a significant diversification of its areas of intervention. UNOPS participated in the evaluation of structural damage suffered by the buildings, took part in the preparation and management of IDP camps and to the cleaning of the main channels of the capital.
