Haiti - Carnival 2012 : Congratulations from the office of the First Lady of Haiti
The Office of the First Lady of the Republic, Ms Sophia Martelly, congratulates the various stakeholders and partners who helped make of the National Carnival 2012 a success and is sending a special thanks, to the inhabitants of the town of Les Cayes and the entire population of the Southern Department for the hospitality they have shown during this great event.

The Office welcomes the work of all the structures established in the circumstances, including the emergency stand and road safety, both initiatives of the First Lady. Thanks to the emergency stand, 32 people were treated during the three fat days. his first in the organization of Haitian carnival had the backing of doctors, nurses and rescue workers of the Movement Tèt Kale.



Regarding the road safety, the Office of the First Lady has received support from a range of partners : the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Secretariat of State for Public Security, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport communication, traffic services, the OFATMA, the 88 volunteer firefighters of 6 cities. This provision has allowed to significantly reduce the number of road accidents. Only one case has indeed been recorded during this period and necessary care was administered to the wounded in a record time.



The Office of the First Lady also wants to commend the remarkable work of the police and ambulance deployed throughout the carnival route. Doctors and nurses, all Haitians, have offered themselves as volunteers. Thanks to the synergy of these different entities and all others involved in the organization of stand and of the road safety, this great cultural event was an unquestionable success.
