Haiti - Politic : The elections are a priority for the Head of State
During a press conference Monday at the National Palace, the President Martelly stated that the organization of the forthcoming parliamentary and municipal elections was a priority "the question of elections remains a priority and an obligation [...] we work to fast forward with the elections, the electoral calendar, the appropriate CEP will be established" recalling that it is the next Government that will have responsibility of these elections, the electoral calendar will be adopted after the ratification of Prime Minister. A message that was intended to be clear, both for parliamentarians, the public and for the international community...

"...on the question of elections there is a Commission that works to prepare the elections to be held once we have our Prime Minister ratified, so I would avoid making comments, but I can tell you that the question of elections is a priority and an obligation. As you know, very soon there will be a gap in the Senate if we do not advance quickly, so, in this sense, [...] we do all the preparations so that when our Prime Minister will be ratified, we went on elections [...] for the moment I assure you, we go towards elections, this is something that lets us know that the democracy is ongoing. In fact, these elections should have been made since last November [...] we was delayed because of some crisis [...] but we are working now to fast forward with the elections, the electoral calendar and the appropriate CEP will be established..."
