Haiti - Reconstruction : The President Martelly is promoting the decentralization in Côtes-de-Fer
Accompanied by the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, and of Senator Joseph Lambert, the Head of State went, this Friday, March 16, 2012, to the Côtes-de-Fer, to celebrate with the inhabitants of this municipality, their Patron saint, St. Joseph and to promote the decentralization. The President Martelly wanted to participate in the festivities to show his solidarity to this town, hometown of his father. Greeted by a cheering crowd and welcomed by the fanfare Sweet Mozart, the Head of State reiterated its commitment to the development of the area by creating infrastructure, such as the construction of the section Côtes-de-Fer/Carrefour 44, already under construction, the electrification of the city, the construction of hill lakes...

"...the same way that we went to Hinche, Jean-Rabel, Port à l'Ecu, we try to promote the decentralization here and today, on the occasion of the feast of the city [...] not only to see the beautiful beaches and visit, but especially to see the achievements that I have already had
had time to make in Côtes-de-Fer, including the renovation of public spaces, the restoration of the church, street lights that were installed not only in the town of Côtes-de-Fer but also in the vicinity [...] it'll take me a good 5 days but I will visit all areas to see what's missing yet. The Minister of Sports has confirmed to me that my dream can come true [...] in front of the church we will put a football field [...] wherever we go, we will create jobs, enable youth to have a healthy life.

[...] To Côtes-de-Fer here were no plans in place, it is me that came with rapid projects and one of the things we do, which is a big step, it is the access road to the Côtes-de-Fer, for the 44 kilometers reach the city [...] we have already begun, the Public Works began to make the road, initially they will come make the path and without stopping, we'll reach the asphalting of the road. Since my father, this route had never been made, this road is a pride for me [...] as you know, roads are the symbol of the development [...] with this road, perhaps that there is more chance that investors creates jobs in the area, especially in tourism because we know that there are beautiful beaches in the zone..."

In the late afternoon, the Head of State has stopped to Laborieux, where he discussed with the people around certain issues related to education and to the development of communal sections. He then went to Mayette, the first communal section of Gris-Gris, for talks with the villagers, and discuss with the Senator Lambert which has warned all the detractors of progress of the nation and promised to support the vision of change of President Martelly.

In the evening, on the Place d’armes of the city, the President has made a distribution of motorcycles to the population. A symbolic gesture, but very important for the Côtiferrois who have, according to the President, an imperative need of means of displacement through the communal sections.

Saturday morning, the Head of State met with the students of the College Secours d’En-Haut, to the Hatte Jolibois, to discuss education. While commending the President for the construction of the road Côte-de-Fer/Carrefour 44 and his concern for free education and accessible to all, students did not hide their emotions before the will of change of the new team. Their song says everything : « Nou pa bezwen kite peyi a, nou resi gen yon prezidan (No longer need to leave this country, we finally have a President)."

Martelly made of the development of communes and communal sections, his priority, which is, according to him, the main approach towards the true decentralization of Haiti.
