Haiti - Health : Rehabilitation of Sanatorium of Carrefour-Feuilles 26/03/2012 13:56:02 The ceremony was attended by representatives of project partner institutions, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Organization for Migration (IOM), the MSPP, the World Vision, the Food for the poor, the Healing Hands and the Freelung (French Association of pulmonologistsbringing together pulmonologists of Savoie), and medical personnel, was an opportunity for the staff director of the institution to renew its commitment to serve the community of tuberculosis, while complying with the founding principles of sanatorium : treatment with the cure of air, light and sun and isolation of infectious patients. Created in the 40s, by Dr. Louis E. Roy, the sanatorium, severely damaged on January 12, 2010 and robbed of its medical equipment, has been renovated and can now offer specialized services in the treatment of various forms of the disease. This medical facility in composes of a medical clinic, pediatric, surgical, of laboratories, of dental care, bronchial endoscopy, of radiology and laundry, not including operating rooms, refectory, etc... About 130,000 tuberculosis, across the country, require intensive care health. The Sanatorium must now face a much greater demand for care, since the increased number of patients since January 12, 2010. Supported by the Office of the First Lady, in terms of medical equipment, the hospital can, gradually, and through this work of rehabilitation, to rebuild a better reputation in the health environment in Haiti.
