Haiti - Politic : The Senators of the Commission of ratification in full confusion...
Although the report of the Senate Commission, responsible for analyzing the documents of the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe, is favorable according to the Senator Hyppolite Mélius, a member of this Commission "We recommended a favorable vote, but it is the Assembly who ultimately will decide," three Senators did not sign the report, they are the senators : Jean Francky Exius, Jean Baptiste Bien-Aimé and Jean William Jeanty.

The Senator Youri Latortue stated yesterday Wednesday "tomorrow there must be a session to ratify Prime Minister-designate [...] today there are meeting with senators, it starts at noon and there are latecomers after we meets with the Prime Minister, the meeting could have been done with the President but he is not there [...]"

Reacting to the statements of Senator Latortue, the Senator Jean William Jeanty, said he did not understand this rush of wanting to submit the report to the vote of the Assembly stating that the report is incomplete He expressed reservations about this report, due to the absence of remarks, he considers important, on the question of the nationality "I do not see why we should adopt the fact that the two Commissions have led to different conclusions," insisting on the necessity that the Commission of analyze of documents of the Prime Minister-designate and the conclusions of the Commission on nationality is consistent.

Jean Rodolphe Joazile President of the Commission of ratification, refutes the theory of precipitation in the approaches and affirms that the work of his Commission is in no way linked to that on the investigation on the nationality of members of the Executive, saying that his Commission has done an excellent job on the criteria of nationality and of residence of Mr. Lamothe.

Youri Latortue abounds in the same direction that the President of the Commission and refutes the statements of Senator Jeanty which claims that there is precipitation of hios part, in the ratification of the Prime Minister... insisting that his initiative was aimed to reach a consensus, not necessarily a majority to ratify the choice of Mr. Lamothe, so that a maximum of senators may have a common position on a set of questions prior to the vote of ratification...

On the issue of the nationality of Laurent Lamothe, the Senator Hyppolite Mélius stated that the report has left a door open while waiting the end of the research on the nationality... Regarding the residence of Prime Minister-designate, he confirmed that Laurent Lamothe, had submitted two certificates of residence provided by the town of Petion-ville and Port-au-Prince, proving that he had resided for 5 years in the country.

For his part, the Senator Simon Desras Dieuseul, President of the Senate has recognized, on a radio that the members of the Commission, were unable to agree on the conclusions of the report... "Some senators wish that the session on the first phase of ratification of the Prime Minister designated be held, even if there is not yet an agreement on the conclusion of the report... Others, wish that a copy of the document previously delivered to the office of the Senate, be in their hands at least twenty-four hours before the session..."

In summary, today, next week or God knows when, the Senators will proceed to the ratification of the Prime Minister designated. We can only regret that our elected of the Senate are unable to reach a consensus to move the country forward and that they expose to the eyes of the world their contradictions in the greatest confusion.
