Lesly Condé, Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, has the duty to remind to the entire Community that Saturday, April 7, 2012 brings the 209th anniversary of the death of Toussaint Louverture.

"It's time to pay tribute to the man who in the eighteenth century, challenged the world order. His lucidity and courage showed to our ancestors the way of the freedom. Toussaint Louverture deserves the admiration of the whole world. But it is primarily up to us to honor his memory and to prove ourselves worthy of his heritage by practicing like him the patriotism and the solidarity. At this moment when our nation is facing adversities that seem insurmountable, we must, like Toussaint Louverture, be guided by wisdom, patience and determination."

It is in this vein, that the Consular Mission will intervene Sunday, April 8 at 6:00 pm on the airwaves of "Radio Haïti International de Chicago" (1590AM or www.1590haiti.com) to debate a topic titled "Toussaint Louverture, the cosmopolitan."
