Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti supports the candidacy of Dr. Jim Yong Kim
In late March, President Barack Obama announced that the U.S. proposed the candidacy of Dr. Jim Yong Kim as a candidate for the presidency of the World Bank. The Presidency of the Republic of Haiti, has indicated in a statement, that it gives its support to the candidacy of Dr. Jim Yong Kim, brilliant Korean-American physician at the head of the World Bank...

In 1987, in collaboration with Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Kim co-founded and was the Executive Director of Partners in Health (Zanmi Lasante). An organization that intervenes in communities by focusing on health care programs in Haiti. Thanks to his work in Haiti and in other countries, more people are able to have a productive lives and contribute to a more dynamic and inclusive growth. Dr. Kim is a good friend of the Haitian people "Haiti needs the help of all our multilateral partners, and we wish to Mr. Kim a successful nomination and we are ready to welcome him in Haiti for his first visit abroad, as soon as he was elected President of the World Bank," indicated the President Michel Martelly.
