Haiti - Politic : Many reactions around the ratification of the PM in the Senate
The ratification in the Senate of Prime Minister-designate, causes many reactions. Evans Paul, Mirlande Manigat, Michaëlle Jean, INITE, the UCCADE, Levaillant Louis Jeune, OPL, Ambassador of France make their comments :

Paul Evans, the leader of the Konvasyon Inite Demokratik (KID) :
Evans Paul strongly condemns the violation of the Constitution by the senators. For him it is "A vote of shame, an imposture", wondering about the motivations of the Senators, given the fact that the Prime Minister was suspected of having a foreign nationality...

Mirlande Manigat, Secretary General of the Rassemblement of National Progressive Democrats (RDNP) :
"...I did not follow until the end, but I am able to say, I'm not surprised at all, I am not astonished at all of the vote that has been done, because we felt since last week that there was an eagerness in the sense to make accept Mr. Lamothe. I followed the debates, there are debates, interventions that were very interesting, very informative. I would make perhaps a observation about the parliamentary procedure, I think, when there are two proposals that are in an agenda, this is the first proposal which must be discussed before the other is discussed, I feel that the opposite that has been done...

Michaëlle Jean, the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti :
For the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti is a
"Glimmer of hope for the end of political deadlock in Haiti! The Senate has approved Laurent Lamothe for PM [...] In Haiti, will the deputies endorse Laurent Lamothe as PM and give the country the necessary stability to move forward ?" asks Ms. Jean...

Coordination of the Platform INITE :
In a note dated April 11, signed by Dr. Jean J. Molière, Deputy Coordinator, Dr. Laurent Beaugé Secretary and Paul Denis, Great Political Affairs Advisor "The coordination of the platform INITE expresses its surprise and indignation face to the position taken by some of its senators, at the session of April 10, in violation of decisions adopted together after long and laborious discussions" The coordination condemns and considers unacceptable the failure to respect the instructions of vote without specifying what was this instruction...

Jeantel Joseph Executive Secretary of the Union of Citizens for the Progress and Development of Education (UCADDE) :
The UCCADE is also not surprised by the decision of the senate to grant a favorable vote to the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe "An understandable choice because it was necessary that the country out of this political impasse."

Levaillant Louis Jeune President of the Lower House :
"I have no right to judge the behavior of the Senate, but I think it could better organize the session to avoid to the population all the fuss we've seen on television [...] because it was clear from the beginning, that there was something planned and that the vote would be done, it was not obliged to have all that ... I complained of the form [...] the debate has tended to one point and we felt that there were two camps who were beginning to hit, it really was not necessary..."

The Struggling People's Organization (OPL) :
Eloune Doréus, Spokesperson of the OPL, has serious doubts on the respect of the Constitution in the ratification process of the Prime Minister-designate. Stressing that the issue of the nationality of Laurent Lamothe has not been clarified before the vote...

Didier Le Bret, Ambassador of France in Haiti :
"[...] This is good news, your country needs to be governed, you need a Prime Minister [...] we are really all very happy that things advances, that there is a national consciousness, both in the executive and Parliament [...] I think that vis-à-vis the international it is also, once again a message of hope, to see that politicians, parliamentarians, who have their legitimacy, the Executive power manage to gather around a candidate for the general interest of the country. This is a very good sign, of course, we look forward to the second step before the Chamber of Deputies [...]"

Reactions of Laurent Lamothe :
Following the favorable vote of the Senate, Laurent Lamothe declared "This is a first set win, there are three more steps to cross" [the lower house vote, government formation and general policy statement]. Saying aware that if he becomes the next Prime Minister of Haiti, his task will not be easy "The post of chief of government is not easy in the current context" he promises, nevertheless, if it accesses the Primature, to provide answers to major issues of the day, quickly but not hastily "The electionsunicipal elections and those for the renewal of the third of the Senate are unavoidable and must be performed as soon as possible [...] I share with the President Martelly the same desire to change the living conditions of the population. Our efforts to relieve people's lives can not in any way deteriorate our relations" A vision not shared by Senator Jean Hector Anacacis "This can lead to conflicts when several men fell in love with one woman: Haiti. Because one of them will have her hand..."
