Haiti - Economy : The Haitian Diaspora Federation focuses on investments
The 3rd annual Sustainable Haiti Conference will take place from April 23rd- April 25th, 2012 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Over 40 workshops and panels, close to 100 speakers from around the world this event, which expects several hundred people, is the Haiti's largest economic development conference.

Sustainatopia and Sustainable Haiti have partnered with the Haitian Diaspora Federation (HDF) to bring a focus on investments to this year's conferences. For the first two days, the Haitian Diaspora Federation will present the 2012 Investment Forum: Pote Kole Pou Ayiti Dekole – a conversation about the necessity for sustained investments that create jobs.

The 2012 Investment Forum: Pote Kole Pou Ayiti Dekole, seeks to raise awareness of the needs and opportunities, plot a course for expanding the number of entrepreneurs and provide them with the knowledge base that will maximize the success and sustainability of their projects. HDF's major message is that failure is not an option. One way to achieve success is for Haiti needs to entice entrepreneurs from the family of Haitians living abroad and friends of Haiti. The 2012 forum will be the space where vision, passion, commitment intersect to develop strategies that help investors and entrepreneurs succeed.

The intended outcome is to engage the community in a conversation on the opportunities for investing in Haiti as a strategy for social change. "By bringing practitioners and investors to the same table we will assert a cohesive message and strategy that amplify the demand that we need to promote and build businesses that lift Haiti out of its slumber. Our key message is that we will work in partnership with our brethren in country. The same old approaches are not working. However, together we can develop and bring innovations that attack Haiti's long-standing problems differently."

The conference will be a two-day, all plenary event, so that opinion leaders in the audience will hear a single consistent narrative. Speakers will be selected very carefully for maximum credibility and impact. HDF will target a large and influential audience, including: Haiti business owners, diaspora and international investors, current member of the Haitian administration, think tank and advocacy people. There will be also substantial media cultivation, before, during and after the event.
