Haiti - Diplomacy : Positive statement of new Ambassador Paul Altidor

The new Ambassador of Haiti in Washington, Paul Altidor, considers that after 150 years of diplomatic relations with the U.S. "America has been a very good partner of Haiti [...] The relationship is strong and we hope do even more [...]"

Speaking of the situation in Haiti on the airwaves of "Voice of America" the Ambassador Altidor declared that the situation in Haiti is still critical" but that it was moving in the right direction. "There are important issues that were resolved, but we still have to empty IDP camps and major infrastructure projects to achieve."

According to the Ambassador, there is still much to do in the area of ​​job creation so that our countrymen can regain their economic independence, emphasizing on the entrepreneurial side of Haitians seeking to create opportunities for themselves and for investors, the quality of Haitian labor which is hardworking. He insisted that people know, that the country is welcoming for business and they can feel confident about investing in Haiti.

The Ambassador recalled that Haiti was a country much safer than many other countries of the region, contrary to what is conveyed, "[...] the level of crime in Haiti, is not greater than that of Washington. We invite people to come to the Embassy of Haiti and we will be happy to help them plan their trips [...]"
