Haiti - Education : The Jacmelian Diaspora of New York, visits Jacmel
A delegation from the organization "Renaissance Jacmelienne de New York" (RJNY) headed by Dayana Oriol-Bistoury and Florence Lazard Dubuche is arrived in Jacmel Saturday, May 19, for an eight-day visit through the Department of the Southeast.

Members of the RJNY visited Tuesday, the "Référence Institut de Journalisme et de communication (RIJC)" of Jacmel. During this visit the organization has donated a lot of material to the institute, including six computers aimed at establishing a computer lab and a cyber center at the service of journalism and communication students.

In his statements, Claudy Bélizaire, Executive Director of RIJC, welcomed this gesture aimed at providing school materials to provide better training for youth of the community. He indicated that these materials received fall within the framework of a project of support in equipment that the institute had submitted to the leaders of the NGO in December 2011. The journalist Claudy Bélizaire promised to the donors, that the computers will be well utilized in the interest of students and hoped that this partnership continues. "Today, they are rare our compatriots who believe in the training of young and who are involved in the social."

For his part, the normalien Enock Bélizaire, Education director of the RIJC, congratulated the members of the "Renaissance Jacmelienne de New York" who responded positively to this request. He said that these computers will enable the Institute to continue to pursue its goal which is to train many more young people in the department of South-East in the field of communication and journalism.

During the distribution, Ms. Dayana Oriol-Bistoury, speaking to students and local media declared that this visit aimed initially to overseeing the different schools and children schooled by its institution at the level of department and in a second time, to continue to support some community institutions, particularly in terms of educational and health.

Edmond Wilson, one of the students of the RIJC, speaking on behalf of his comrades did not hide his satisfaction. "These equipments will help us to master easier the new information technologies and also will facilitate us the learning of certain multimedia software."

This organization has the mission to help the population, particularly in education. Currently the actions of the RJNY are mostly concentrated in the towns of Jacmel, Cayes-Jacmel and Côtes de Fer.
