Haiti - Economy : Miami, «Caravan of investment» first positive results

The Commercial Section of the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami in support to the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), officially launched Friday, June 22, the "Caravan of investment" at "Greater Chamber Of Commerce" in Miami.

This forum on investment in Haiti, presided by Karl Jean-Louis, the Director General of the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI) and several members of private sector of Haiti and Florida, brought together more than a hundred men and Haitian women business, foreigners and representatives of Consulates of France, Canada and Brazil, all eager to learn about investment opportunities in Haiti.

The ceremony began around 9:30 am with the welcoming remarks of Consul General of Haiti in Miami, Mr. François Guillaume II, who was accompanied for the occasion, of Consuls Régine Chevallier, Patrice Baker of the Commercial Section, Stéphane Gilles and other executives of the Consulate.

In his speech, Mr. Guillaume II, has stressed the importance of this forum for the investment opportunities in Haiti and urged the assembly to grasp the advantages offred by Haiti in its national reconstruction phase, starting with the Industrial Park of Caracol.

Mr. Karl Jean-Louis, Director General of the CFI and the instigator of the "Caravan of investment" whose Miami is the first host city, made a special presentation of the role of the CFI alongside those who wish invest in Haiti. He took the opportunity to report on his accomplishments at the head of the institution that he led for more than six months. In addition, apart of the service "Red Carpet" offered by the CFI in the execution of formalities for opening a business in Haiti, Mr. Jean-Louis informed that a "Single Window" will be available soon in Haiti to assist potential investors through a single gateway in public administration.

Pierre Saliba, President of the Chamber of Commerce Haitian-American (CCHA) South Florida, has highlighted in his presentation, its commitments to promote and facilitate business relationships, that he advocates between Haiti and Florida.

For his part, Hervé Denis, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CHIC), in his speech, has highlighted the important role of the Chamber of Commerce of Haiti, in the partnership between the private and public sectors in Haiti.

First positive results :

Following this first step of the "Caravan of investment," Karl Jean Louis has indicated "[...] We have 5 potential investors, who are ready to visit the country, we have an investor who would like to invest at the level of Park of Caracol, it enters in Haiti tomorrow and two Haitian-American investors who are interested in investing in the transportation especially in the north, and they will be in the country next week [...]"

The "Caravan of investment" will be in Orlando, Monday, June 25, before its final step : Atlanta.
