Haiti - Literature : The DNL officially launches the «Tuesdays of book» 11/07/2012 13:32:16 "Culture is our first and last line of defense," declared the Minister, underlining the importance that the government attaches to culture in general and books in particular. Reaffirming the commitment of the Government Martelly-Lamothe to put in place cultural infrastructure in municipalities and neighborhoods of the country and guarantee the rights of authors and Haitian creators that produce in extremely difficult conditions. Jean Mario Dupuy, praised the authors for their invaluable service to the Haitian culture in general, to the literary production in particular, despite the constraints that surround this sector. "This weekly activity, aim essentially the promotion of books and valuing the work of Haitian writers," has indicated Frantz Carly Jean Michel, Director General of the DNL that ntends to work to the establishment, by 2015, of a hundred of Centers for reading and cultural activities (CLAC) throughout the country, to promote book circulation. He invited young people to actively participate in this weekly activity every Tuesday in the gardens of the DNL, located at the street 3, number 10 (Pacot)] in order to meet with writers and acquire quality books at reduced prices.
