Haiti - Religion : Oath of Loyalty to the Nation, of Mgr. Max Leroy Mesidor
Mgr. Max Leroy Mesidor has declared before the President "[...] In accordance with Article 5 of the Concordat between the Republic of Haiti and the Holy See, [...] me, Mgr. Max Leroy Mesidor appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Fort-Liberté by His Holiness Pope Benedict XV, I have the honor to confirm to the Chief of State of the Republic of Haiti, my loyalty to the nation. I promise and I pledge, to keep respect and loyalty to the Constitution of Haiti, for the continuation of the common good of the country and of the defense of the interests of the Nation."

The President Martelly speaking to the new Bishop of Fort Liberté, declared "[...] I rejoice with you 'Habemus Episcopum', we have finally a bishop.

Finally, Fort Liberté and our citizens of North-East have a new pastor [...] by taking the reins of the Diocese of the Northeast, you face a difficult challenge. Your diocese has only 46 priests for 345,000 Catholic, your job will be nevertheless exciting [...] with Christ, I am come to bring fire in Haiti, a fire of love, fire of discipline, integrity and transparency. The burden is heavy, the expectations enormous, with blind faith, going together without fear or reserve, in the struggle for the soul of Haiti [...]"
