Haiti - Education : Graduation of first promotion of health technicians for the great South 27/07/2012 13:49:27 Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, inister of Public Health and Population and Patron of the promotion, accompanied by Mr. Anthony Uder, Coordinator of the Office of Human Resources Management (OMRH), declared "today is a great joy for you who come to complete your studies and it will be a greater joy for you by leveraging the knowledge you have acquired. You will participate in health education of the population to change their behavior to prevent disease, contribute to protect the environment as real agents of development, work in order to change the country and preach by example to be taken seriously." The objective of the President Martelly is to reach 5,000 health workers for the next five years. Thus, to move forward as quickly as possible with the process of training of health technicians throughout the country, the Ministry of Health will establish this Institute of Executive Training in Health, to Port-au-Prince in October 2012 with a first class of 100 students. Dr. Guillaume encourages girls to take part in competitions to be held soon to recruit a new promotion of students for the great South and one for the West department. "We must have a 50% quota of women in the new promotions to recruit, because there are only 5 girls of the 52 students who have just been graduated in the latter." Regarding the uncertainty of students to enter the labor market, the Minister Guillaume wanted to be reassuring "You are part of the Ministry of Health and you will be appointed before the end of 2012." For her part, Ms. Djerline Clergy-Constant, Director of the Institute, declared "You must serve as examples everywhere, examples of men and women of integrity. You must also have a word for everyone in every situation: one to provide a student, a young, pregnant woman, a mother, a householder will help them save their lives, of lives and even a population [... ] you are the hope of a new generation for the welfare health of Greater South in particular and the country in general [...] you represent the future of the preventive medicine in the region."
