Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly in Anse-à-Veau
On the occasion of the Saint-Anne, the President Martelly, went to Anse-à-Veau, [Nippes department], this Thursday, July 26, to visit a village built to the benefit of victims of January 12, 2010 and inaugurate the Polytechnic School Saint-Anne.

The Head of State, when he got off helicopter, was welcomed by Mr. Alex Tropnaz the Delegate of the Department, accompanied by several personalities with whom he walked to the Cathedral Sainte-Anne where he was waiting on the forecourt, by Mgr. Pierre-André Dumas, members of the Catholic clergy, elected officials and representatives of civil society.

During his speech, Mgr. Dumas emphasized the fact that the President Martelly was the first head of state to officially visit Anse-à-Veau and show a real interest in the development of the region.

The Head of State then went to the village built by "Food for the Poor", where he was welcomed among others, by Daniel Gérard Rouzier, Representative of the organization, the Senators Jocelerme Privert and William Jeanty, the Mayor Victor Gramond, the Deputies Wilner Guervil and Frantz Robert Mondé. This village of about sixty houses, was built to house the displaced families and victims of the weather of the department of Nippes.

The President congratulated Mr. Gérard Daniel Rouzier and Mgr. Pierre André Dumas for their personal commitment and the work done by "Food for the Poor" and the Diocese of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne, not only in building a village of 60 houses, but also for having added a school "evidence of a progressive vision and a genuine desire for development."



Humbly, Mr. Daniel Gérard Rouzier, made the apology of the compassion and solidarity, and took the opportunity to announce to the population of two tank trucks, offered by the Presidency, to carry drinking water and two other trucks assigned to the service of Diocese of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne. He also indicated that in addition of houses and of the school, a depot was built to meet the storage needs of the Church.

The Head of State, who also proceeded to the inauguration of the Polytechnic School Saint-Anne, stressed the importance of education for the empowerment of people and the advancement of the community "we must know where you are going to know which way to go. And for that, education is essential [...] We must believe in progress to make advance a country," declared the President Martelly, who asked the public to be patient and understanding. "It is easier to break than to build..." reminded the Head of State, emphasizing on the goodwill of the government team to transform the living of the Haitian population, he reiterated his commitment to invest heavily, so that the development of the department of Nippes, becomes a reality.
