Haiti - Education : «Haiti-Tec» a Centre of Vocational and Technical Training of Excellence 05/08/2012 12:57:39 "Education being one of the five 'E' of the Martelly-Lamothe government political priorities, and myself being a former St Thomas University student, Mgr. Casale and Mr. Torno [American Airlines Vice President] are sharing additional plans to promote Haiti Tec throughout Haiti," informed the Prime Minister. Also attended the meeting, Michaelle Auguste, Haiti Tec board member and Rachel Madhere, American Airlines Haiti Director. Strategically located in the heart of the Industrial Park (SONAPI) of Port-au-Prince, Haiti-Tec Foundation, created May 11, 1999, has for mission to manage a Centre of Vocational and Technical Training of Excellence. Since 2002, the Centre offers to Haitians, of high level training, custom, continuous, initials or of bases, and of special training ; with the objective to equip the Haitian market, with a skilled workforce, to meet the needs of the modern business world. Haiti-Tec has 88 employees, 35 work full time, either as administrative staff, program managers or support staff. The other 55 are trainers who are characterized by their expertise, both in initial teaching than training in companies. A building of 30,000 square feet welcome up to 800 learners [divided into two shifts]. The building houses six computer labs of 25 to 30 workstations, equipped with the latest technological innovations; 3 telecommunications laboratories, 2 workshops of electronic, 1 refrigeration workshop, 1 technical workshop of Civil Engineering, 1 workshop of Techniques of computerized systems, 1 Autotronique laboratory, 1 welding-plumbing workshop, 1 drawing room, 1 Media Library, 11 classrooms, 1 auditorium, 1 staff room, 1 conference room and of academic, administrative and reception offices.
