This work aims to protect the city by the rapid flow of water in case of heavy rains, mainly in Ka-Soleil one of the most populous neighborhoods of the city. In addition to the canal expansion, the Indonesian will build a bridge and put two nozzles to facilitate drainage. According to Osner Amisial, the Mayor of the city, who has sought the assistance of the Minustah to carry out this project, the profiling and the enlargement of the canal was of great necessity. "I can only rejoice, because ultimately, this problem is being resolved." Deployed for over a year in the Artibonite, the 167 Indonesian military engineers have already proceeded to the cleaning and the extension of two other major canals in the downtown this year and also rehabilitated six road axes in the department, including to Ennery, Grande Salines, Dessalines, Saint-Marc and Gros-Morne.
