Haiti - Sports : Samyr Laine, qualified for the final of Triple Jump !
Tuesday, August 7, 2012, in London as part of the 30th Olympic Games, Samyr Laine [bib 2029], competed in the men's triple jump, in group A, 7th in order of passage, alongside of Sornoza Jose Adrian of Ecuador, Compaore Benjamin of France, Girat Arnie David of Cuba, Idowu Phillips of Great Britain, Platnitski Dzmitry of Belarus, Adams Lyukman of the Russian Federation, Claye Will of the United States of America, Greco Daniele of Italia, Oke Tosin of Nigeria, Maheshwary Renjith of India, Ektov Yevgeniy of Kazakhstan and Cao Shuo of the People's Republic of China.

After this competition, Samyr Laine, finished in 6th position of Group A, and 10th of 26 overall with a triple jump of 16.81 meters his personal best is 17.39 meters and his best jump for the season 16.88 meters].

In the overall standings is American Taylor Christian who ranks first (17.21 m), third place is held by the French Compaore Benjamin (17.06 m).

The world record in this discipline is 18.29 meters (Great Britain) and the Olympic record 18.09 meters (USA)...

In the finals it will be 3rd in order of passage alongside of Claye Will of the United States of America, Compaore Benjamin of France, Adams Lyukman of the Russian Federation, Greco Daniele of Italia, Donato Fabrizio of Italia, Platnitski Dzmitry of Belarus, Copello Alexis of Cuba, Taylor Christian of the United States of America, Oke Tosin of Nigeria, Dong Bib of the People's Republic of China and Sands Leevan of Bahamas.

"I'm very happy. I promise to do my best to bring a medal to the Haitian people," declared Samyr Laine after the competition.

All Haiti accompany you Samyr, you are our last hope for a medal.Good luck and thank you for this qualification in the final, we are all proud of you.

Samyr Laine was born July 17, 1984, in New York. Samyr has a Masters in Law and studied at Harvard University. He is currently 15th in the world rankings in the triple jump.
