Haiti - Education : The courses given by the University Henri Christophe
Wednesday, Professor Jean-Marie Théodat, President of the Board of Management of the new campus Henri Christophe in Limonade, indicated that the new university whose first academic year is scheduled for October 8, 2012 [the anniversary of the death of Henri Christophe], will propose long courses, short and continuing education.

Professor Jean-Marie Théodat, who taught at the University of Sorbonne, Paris I, assured that the training will be of high level. "It is said that 85% of Haitians who have a degree greater than or equal to the license live and work abroad [...] We would like to reverse that statistic [...] The only way to do this is to train them at home"

Those responsible of this new University, wish to recruit 1.500 students will be divided into four groups after the first year of preparation :

1,000 students will be oriented towards science and technology "These studies lead to careers in engineering, medical professions and health, marine trades, agriculture and services"

300 students will be orientedto the social sciences [200 in administration and 100 in letters, humanities and social sciences in order to "train managers and administrators necessary to the revival of senior executives of public and private administration."

200 students will be oriented in short courses, towards arts and crafts where they will receive an accelerated training of two years in the field of regional planning, information technology, hospitality and tourism, mapping and management... The Executive Council of the UEH also provides continuous training for of technicians and professionals.

Jean Vernet Henry, Rector of State University of Haiti (UEH) clarified that the UEH was currently in the recruitment phase of the administrative staff, management and teachers, noting that many teachers from the Diaspora, expressed interest in putting their skills to the service of the UEH, including to the new campus of Limonade.

Recall that for the operation of the campus of Henri Christophe of Limonade, the Rector asks a budget of 350 million gourdes...
