Haiti - Environment : The polybags are now banned in Haiti

The Communications Office of the Primature informs the population, that an order has just been published, which now prohibits the manufacture, the importation, marketing and use of polythene bags (polybags) in Haiti.

This special provision is intended to alert the citizens throughout the territory, in order to contribute to the protection of the environment which is deteriorating continuously.

In an effort to improve the quality of life of the population, the Government is determined to take all measures to preserve our physical environment but also educate users of polythene bags on the dangerousness of this product and the damage it has already caused.

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe appeals to patriotism and citizenship of all, to say no to pollution of our environment, with waste of all kinds.
