Haiti - Reconstruction : Training of 1,000 specialized workers
As part of a partnership agreement signed on May 7, between the International Labour Office (ILO) and the National Institute of Vocational Training in Haiti (INFP) with as primary objective, the review of programs and training curricula, 7 master construction trainers and 20 certified construction trainers, are ready to deliver courses in earthquake-resistant construction. This training program, is an essential step in the 16/6 project, which promotes the rehabilitation of 16 neighborhoods, through the construction of sustainable homes. The training programme will also help to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants, especially through the creation of income-generating opportunities for the people of the neighborhoods.

Thanks to the cooperation between the ILO and the INFP, in partnership with Build Change and the Swiss Cooperation, this program will train 1,000 workers gradually from Monday, August 13, 2012. After this training, workers will receive a certificate of professional skills, then a diploma of skilled workers, certified by INFP and the the Minister of Public Works Transport and Communications. These specialized workers, will ensure the reconstruction of 1,700 houses that meet the standards, in the neighborhoods of "16/6" by the end of 2013.
