Speech of circumstance of Dr. Michel Chancy :
"Mr. Chargé d'affaires,

I ask you to convey my deep appreciation to Her Excellency Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil for this prestigious distinction, that I receive today with a great honor.

These thanks, do not come only from me, because by giving me the title of Commander of the Order of Rio Branco, you also honor many Haitian stakeholders, because everything I've done and I continue to do is primarily the result of a collective work of a team. So this honor that I share with friends, whose many are present here, brothers and sisters, who lead the fight to change Haiti.

An important part of this work, a series of activities in the fight against hunger through the development of the feeding program, around the production and processing of milk, of the production of small farmers, we are doing it largely through the efforts of solidarity with Brazil.

A solidarity sincere, respectful and constructive, performed on the basis of exchange and of sharing of positive and negative experiences and of lessons learned.

This distinction of the order of Rio Branco, is also a recognition of this work done together.

As Secretary of State for Animal Production and Member of the Presidential Commission for the Fight against Hunger and Malnutrition, I am in a privileged position, that allows me to judge of this cooperation with your country.

In this day of independence of Brazil, on behalf of the Government of Haiti and the Haitian people let me greet all the people and the Government of Brazil, and to highlight our admiration for your nation, for the leadership role you are playing today, always in the spirit of the ideals of Rio Branco, in the defense of the interests of many people of developing countries such as Haiti.

Allow me to also acknowledge and thank some people who have played or still plays a role in the development of cooperation between Brazil and Haiti, for the rural development and the promotion of small agricultural producers. I want to quote :

The Minister Milton Rondo, Ambassador José Luiz Machado and certain officers and former officers of the Embassy of Brazil in Haiti : Daniel Guimaraes and Rafael Beleboni.

I take this opportunity to thank especially the unwavering support of my first counselor, the former Minister Mrs. Adeline Magloire Chancy, my mother.

Thank you to all my friends and colleagues here.

Vive the solidarity between Brazil and Haiti, Vive Brazil, Vive Haiti.

Thank you."
