Haiti - Reconstruction : President Martelly visited several worksites, few figures
The President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe and the Special Representative of UNESCO in Haiti, Ms. Michaelle Jean, conducted on Wednesday 19 September, a series of inspections visits of several major projects underway in the metropolitan area.

The two officials of the Executive, to the Bicentenaire, were able to observe the progress of construction works of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC) which will extend over 18 months "All the coast will be recovered, but we must first create a decent space to accommodate the current occupants," announced the Head of State.

The construction work of the Ministries of Trade and Industry (MCI) at Champs de Mars, and of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), to the street Paul VI, were also evaluated during the visit of inspection. About ten months will be required for the construction of these ministries. The MCI should be inaugurated in December 2013. The construction of each of these public buildings, cost about 17.5 million U.S. dollars ans is funded by the funds PetroCaribe.

While waiting to take possession of these new offices, the MCI will be installed in the next few days in the Industrial Park SONAPI, where the Paraguayan peacekeepers, provide the finishing touches to 18 prefabricated buildings already mounted, equipped with air conditioning and connected to the grid. The works financed by the Minustah, to the tune of 879.000 U.S. dollars, began in July and should be completed by the end of the month. Of temporary constructions strongly expected that will allow all employees of this ministry, which are scattered in the capital between the Champs-de-Mars, the neighborhood of Bois Verna and the Industrial Park on the airport road, to work in the same place.

In the morning, the President Martelly, visited the construction of a village to Morne à Cabrit where .000 houses are under construction, whose 1.000 will be ready by December 2012. The village will include a hospital, a sub police station, a public market, a school, a fire station and ten warehouses. The project is estimated at $48 million and will create almost 3,500 jobs.

In addition, the Head of State and the Prime Minister, paid a visit to the Firefighters Corps of Port-au-Prince, to them they promised to work on the quality of their work environment. For her part, Ms. Michaelle Jean has promised to "do everything possible in order to find help to equip this Corps of a new infrastructure."

The Administration Martelly-Lamothe believes that the construction work in progress, performed by the firm ROFI, will promote overall the creation of thousands of jobs "The economic recovery starts from these major projects," welcomed the Prime Minister Lamothe. Soon will be launched tenders for the construction of other public buildings.

The President Martelly continues to believe that in addition to rebuild the physical space of the country, we must also focus on the reconstruction of the Haitian people as human. To do so, he appeals to the conscience and solidarity from all sectors of national life. "We have, so far made of big steps, but much remains to be done."
