Haiti - Economy : President Martelly encourages the consumption of local products
Wednesday, the President Michel Martelly, went to the Wharf of Jérémie, where he visited the workshop of production of cassava, peanut butter (Manba) and of Coffee. Accompanied by Mrs. Rosanne Auguste, the Minister Delegate responsible for human rights and the fight against poverty and Mr. Gonzague Day, Departmental Delegate of the West, the Head of State has also made at the Bel-Air, a courtesy visit to the Art Workshop and trades "Entre Nous" where young people make, among other things, shoes, sandals and handbags.

"I came visit you to show you the importance I attach to these workshops also to support you and encourage you to produce more," declared the President Martelly, who took the opportunity to symbolically place two separate orders, the first of peanut butter for a total of 50,000 gourdes and the other in the workshop at Bel-Air, for 1,000 pairs of shoes, for subsequent distribution to the population.

The citizens Jude François of the Organisation "Eau, Eco et Jeunesse", and Iverson Mathurin of the Movement "Jeunes en action pour la Paix", which manage respectively these two workshops, warmly welcomed the visit of President Martelly that they thanked for having subsidized them. Remember that August 31, 2012, the Head of State, met representatives of twenty neighborhoods (Bel Air, Fort National, Cite Militaire, Truitier, Carrefour feuilles, Delmas) of the metropolitan area, during a courtesy visit to the Primature. It was at the end of this meeting that the Head of State had decided to fund two micro-projects, valued at 150,000 gourdes each, which are now a reality to the Wharf of Jérémie and at Bel-Air.

Focused, among other things, on the "Project of Strengthening of Productive capacity in shoemaking, sewing, tallow chandlery, bakery and ironworks in poor neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince", this meeting was also an opportunity for the Head of State to convince the participants on the need to revive the real production. The President, expressed his strong desire to assist and support the associations, companies and institutions that promote domestic production and invited, once again, the Haitians to consume all local products.
