Haiti - Diplomacy : Nomination of two Ambassadors
Tuesday, at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir, Minister of Foreign Affairs has officially proceeded, to the delivery of copies of decrees [dated 15 August 2012] naming two women's rights activists : American actress Maria Bello as Goodwill Ambassador and Mrs. Danielle Saint-Lot as roving Ambassador.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America in Haiti, Mrs. Pamela White, of Mr. Mariano Fernandez, Special Representative and Head of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah) , Mr. Charles Castel, Governor of the Central Bank, some government ministers and representatives of women's organizations, among others.

Maria Bello and Danielle Saint-Lotmilitating for several years through national and international organizations for the economic emancipation, social and political of women in general and of Haitian women in particular.

"I am committed to the service of women. Haiti is a model in the emancipation and the respect of women's rights," declared Maria Bello, which contributes to the good reputation and to the enhancing of the country's image abroad and to the improvement of living conditions of Haitian women.

For her part, Danielle Saint-Lot, aware of the importance that the Administration Martelly-Lamothe grant to the emancipation of women, expressed the the desire to continue to put, gracefully, her talents at the service of country and women of Haiti.

The President Martelly that encourages Haitian women to contribute significantly to the reconstruction of Haiti, has reaffirmed his faith, in the establishment of a society where women's rights are fully respected.
