Haiti - Economy : French budgetary aid of 29 million euros
Pascal Canfin French Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Development who is on an official mission in Haiti since October 23 and whose stay ends this Thursday 25, signed a joint declaration with the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe regarding a budgetary support of France to the Haitian Government, amounting to 29 million euros.

Yesterday in a press conference the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe announced that "[...] The Haitian Government and the French Government have signed a joint declaration [...] this joint declaration is a budgetary aid, that France will give us, which amounts to 29 million euros and now, we will decide in which strategic sectors , we will put this helps. We have identified some sectors such as border security or the aid to the strengthening of the rule of law, therefore it is in these various sectors that we look.

[...] We have visited of the Minister Delegate to the Development of France, following the meeting of the President of the Republic with the French president [in the 14th Francophonie Summit in Kinshasa] as part of strengthening of relations Haitiano-French and in this framework [...] there is a group of French investors, who will come look at the opportunities there are to invest in Haiti.

We are very pleased with this event, we are also very pleased that the cooperation ties between France and Haiti will be strengthened, and we will continue to work to ensure that these ties continue to be strengthened [...]"


During his stay in Haiti, Pascal Canfin visited several sustainable development projects in the areas of housing, agriculture and access to energy, supported by French NGOs and the French Development Agency (AFD). Accompanied by Didier Lebret, Ambassador of France in Haiti and Pierre Vernet Henry, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH) he went on the campus of the new University Roi Henri Christophe (Limonade) where France, in addition to its logistical support has also supported the training of 22 Haitian teachers who will teach in the University
